Aardvark's are mammals. Aardvarks are known as the earths pig. Aardvark means "Earth Pig" in Africa. Aardvarks are nocturnal, which means they are awake at night and they sleep during the day. Aardvarks eat termites and ants. The aardvark is up to 2.3 m (7.5 ft) long, including the fleshy, tapering tail. The aardvark has 20 cylindrical teeth that grow throughout its lifetime. They also have chisel-shaped sharp claws that can pry open termite nests. They have a sticky tongue to catch insects. The aardvark has fewer teeth than most mammals. A baby aardvark will dig its own burrow at the age of six months. Aardvarks are hunted by humans, lions, pythons and leopards.
