Anne Hutchinson was a teacher as well as woman who spoke out on religion. Anne is an important woman because she fought for religious freedom for people in the colonies. She held meetings for women. At those meetings, she would start by talking about religious sermons. She had discussions with other women about these sermons. Many of the ministers did not think she should be talking about the word of God. Anne, however, believed that everyone should have a personal relationship with God. Massachusetts Bay Colony officials ordered her to stop her meetings, but she did not obey the officials.
